What time do I drop off / pick up my child?

Nursery Children

This is dependent on the sessions booked.

A morning session is 8:40 am – 11:40 am

An afternoon session is 12:20 pm – 3:20 pm

Reception – year 4

8:20 am                     School gates open

8:30 am                     School bell rings for children to make their way to class

8:40 am                     School day start with registration at 8:40 am

3:10 pm                     School finishes

The total amount of hours in school each week is 32 Hours and 30 minutes.

The School Day is as follows:

10:30 – 10:45 am	KS1 & KS2 Break
10:50 am	Assembly (15mins)
11:45 – 12:45 pm	Reception Lunch
12:00 – 1:00 pm	KS1 Lunch
12:15 – 1:15 pm	KS2 Lunch
2:30 pm	KS1 Break

                           
Nursery children do not normally attend assembly.

Assemblies are held during the week either in the classroom or the hall.

Pupils in Early Years are able to play outside at any time so they have no formal scheduled break.

Can my child have a drink and snack?

All pupils are encouraged to drink water regularly throughout the day.  Cups are available in for pupils to use but we encourage children to bring in a named water bottle to school every day. Bottles should only contain water, no fizzy drinks, juice or squash please. A healthy snack is provided free of charge to all pupils up to the end of year 2. Pupils in years 3 and 4 are welcome to bring in a healthy snack for break time.

No chocolate, sweets or crisps please. We are also a nut free school so all items should be nut free.

What happens if my child is late?

If you arrive after the registers close at 8:40 am your child must be signed in via the school office.

What do I do if my child is being collected by someone else?

Inform the class teacher or call the school office (ideally by 10:00 am) so a message can be passed onto the classroom before the end of the day.

If I think my child might be entitled free school meals, who do I contact?

Pupil Premium (known as Free School Meals) are available to families in receipt of benefits, but not working tax credit, with an income of less than £16,190 pa. To apply, or find out if you are eligible please contact the Pupil Premium Team on 0300 300 8306.

We encourage any eligible family to apply even if your child is in year 2 or below or you decide not to take up the meal. The school receives extra funding for pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium.  This funding is used by the school towards funding TA support in the classrooms and the Family Support Worker. 

What do I do if my child is ill?                

Please report your child’s absence via the Studybugs app by 9:00 am.  or you can email on attendance@clipstonebrooklower.co.uk.  You should inform the school every morning that your child is unwell. Your message should include why your child is absent, not just ‘they are ill’.

To avoid the spread of tummy bugs it is recommended that children should be kept off school for 48 hours after the symptoms have passed. This is in line with NHS guidelines.  

What should I do if my child has medicine?

Take the medicine to the School Office and complete a medicine form.  Please note that only prescribed medicines can be given.  We would normally only need to give prescribed medication if it is four doses per day. If you have requested that the medicine be returned home at the end of each day it should be collected from the school office.
If your child has an asthma inhaler you should complete a medicine form at the School Office.
Inhalers are kept in the medical room permanently.  Please also complete a form for a generic inhaler for use in an emergency.

Pupils should never be responsible for medicine; it must be in the care of an adult.

When can I speak to my child’s teacher? 

You are welcome to speak to your child’s teacher at the end of the school day/session. The start of the day tends to be very busy, so we request that only urgent messages are passed on in the morning. If you require a longer meeting, it should be arranged with your child’s teacher after school.

How do I find out how my child is progressing?

Parents receive an overview report every term and a full report every summer term. Parents are invited to a parents’ evening twice a year.

You are welcome to make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher at any time during the school year.

What should I do if we move or emergency contacts change their phone number?

At the beginning of each academic year (September) we will send home a copy of your child’s contact details to check and either approve or amend.

However, changes happen all through the year so when they do please remember to update us.  Either come to the School Office to update your child’s records or write the changes down in a letter and give the letter to the office.  Remember to include your child’s/children’s name(s). Make sure you clearly identify who the changes refer too.

When should PE kit be in school?

PE lessons take place on specific days, however adhoc lessons can take place during the week. We recommend that the PE kit remains in school for each half term and return immediately after the holiday when it can be washed or replaced.
